Narendra Lalchandra Mehta was born in Pali, Rajasthan on September 25, 1972, popularly recognized as Shri. Narendra Mehta, is a major figure in the Indian political senario, a mentor, guide, philosopher who is particularly acknowledged for his contribution in the field of Politics. He is also well known today, as the founder of Seven Eleven Group of Companies.

Shri. Narendra L Mehta had to face a lot of hardships It can be said that he grew up as an adult shouldering the responsibility right after he lost his beloved father Lalchandji Mehta, at the tender age of seven years. In the year 1977, he migrated to Mumbai, Bhayander with his parents. Eldest among his siblings, with two younger sisters, and a brother. His father set up a general store on B.P Road, Bhayandar (East), but it was shaken with the sudden death of his father in 1979. His mother attempted to support the family after his father passed away in 1979 and provided education to her children. His Primary schooling was through Abhinav Vidya Mandir , and his secondary schooling was through Our Lady of Nazareth School, Bhayandar. He studied with great dedication and zeal and slowly at the age of 12 years, he also began to help his mother in the household chores and took over the enormous task of shouldering the responsibility by taking care of the store with his studies also going side by side. To grow as an entrepreneur, he increased the sales of his shop by keeping various seasonal items like kites during the kite season, colours during Holi, and plastic sheets during the monsoons.

Bhayandar being a saltpan hub, he brought salt at wholesale prices and made small salt packets and sold it to general stores. With the rising responsibilities and rising cost of living, he was unable to make both ends meet, so he also drove a rickshaw and worked for the family from 10 to 12 midnight, sacrificing his needs for the family. In 1988, he started another business of selling crackers during Diwali, but as a minor, it was prohibited by law and was arrested.Later in 1988, he started his cable T.V. business.In 1990 he started trading agency in Condiments and Soaps and used to supply these condiments all over the area till Dahisar. He used to take the orders in the morning, supply them till noon and collect his payments in the evenings this was his daily routine. In 1992 his family was again shattered with the death of his beloved mother and thereafter he became the pillar, a rock, for his family.

After suffering a great loss in his trading business of soap and condiments, he closed the agency and began the Hum Video Library store. He used to rent video cassettes. In that Period Having his sisters married was a great responsibility. But as money started flowing in, he got his sisters married. He invested some money for the construction of 'The Blue Moon Club' where again he had to face a loss and the club was sold But Narendra Mehta rose again and established Seven Eleven Group of Companies. With blessings of God, Seven Square Academy was established. Many more landmarks were constructed by him. From rags to riches Narendra L Mehta learnt not to trust blindly. After gaining stablity in his life, he got married to his lady luck. This was more of a arranged cum love marriage.

Under the guidance of Mr. Mohan Madhukar Patil, President of Shiv Shakti Mitra Mandal, Narendra L. Mehta stood for his first Nagar Palika election. He lost the election by mere 70 votes but never lost his self confidence. He again consented for election and won the election, defeating all the candidates from established parties. For all his austerity and simplicity, Narendra Mehta embraced the modern world and acknowledged the progress and thus it was a clear mandate that he won the election.Political conspriacy to defame: Mr. Narendra L Mehta raised the issue of illegal work connection and construction in the common meeting of Maha Nagar Palika, Because of this a severe action was taken against the officers of nagar palika. During his tenure of 13 years Shri. Narendra L Mehta's popularity increased day by day as he initiated various project for public which mainly included water supply, underground drainage, schools, hospitals and garden.

As a Mayor Shri. Narendra L Mehta was well aware of the problems of the city and decided to take necessary measures. he decided to construct a charitable hospital with high-tech facilities in front of his school Seven Square Academy for which the work is in progress. As the population of Mira-Bhayandar is tremendously increasing, supply of drinking water is a major problem. During his tenure as Mayor of MBMC he sanctioned Rs.760 crores in the year 2009 and the project is expected to be completed by the year 2014 He also constructed sky walk and 150 public toilets with the help of state government for the benefit of the under previledged. He has also sent proposal to the state Government for new roads and under ground gutters . It is expected for the next 30years that the population of Mira –Bhayandar would rise, Keeping this in mind, implementation of many project like sports ground and parks on 26th January 2009 started at 16 places and 4 beautiful gardens were created. Transportation- bus facility were started to Borivali and Thane on the new route to Mahanagar Palika in 2009 after getting financial help form JRUC , new bus coches and many routes to Virar, Santacruz, Bhivandi and Thane bus facilities were made available for common people Clearing of drainage water - The stagnant rain water at Mira road and Bhayandar and the surrounding area Cabin road,Naya Nagar etc. work was done successfully. Rehabilitation of slums – To rehabilitate 10000 slum dwellers in Mira- Bhayandar for the first time the expenditure was share by 10% by Mira Bhayandar Mahanagar palika, 15% by owners and 75% by the central government with the efforts of shri Narendra Mehta.

Shri. Narendra L Mehta did an excellent job for the growth of MiraBhayandar Municipal Corporation. During his tenure as a Mayor for 2½ years he took many positive steps to increase the revenue for Mahanagar Municipal Corporation . He was very particular and made a conscious effort not to put an extra burden on the common people and a levied amount was collected against advertisement , hoarding , mobile towers, started collecting rent for UG fiber , and reduce license fees for the shop owner All these measures were taken to increase the revenue for the Municipal Corporation.

“Mayor at your door step program” was appreciated by one and all. He wanted to know the exact problem of the common people. This program was continued for two months which created history in Mira-Bhayandar More than 10000 societies were approched in this programme. Our honourable Mayor got very close to the common people .More than 20,000 grieviences of common people were solved as they would meet Mayor personally and share their problems for which the Mayor took personal interest.Shri.Narendra L Mehta’s officially entered BJP in April 2009.During his tenure as a Mayor he learnt about the ideologies of different parties and decided to join BJP for the better upliftment of the town. . Spirited Entry for MLA election – In Maharashtra general assembly election, he BJP decided to accept Shri.Narendra L Mehta as a candidate from Bhayandar Vidhan Sabha constituency No. 145. He fought the election with the Shiv Sena but he was taken a back by only 8,000 votes, still he was positive and exhilarated that more than 52,000 people had voted for him. He could feel somewhere that the common people were disappointed with his defeat somewhere and he dedicated himself to social work and that will be continued forever. His tenure was completed on 28thFebruary 2010 as a Mayor.

Shri. Narendra L. Mehta was honoured as BJP Party President-for Thane District – seeing his efficient performance BJP decided to appoint him as the Party President for Mira-Bhayandar Dist. from April 2010 onwards. He is leading his life vicariously for the lives of other people and hence is a great humanitarian and very down to earth person His journey through life is like rough diamond from the mine appeared to be polished in society with him great tasks for the well being of common people.
